Trébeurden is situated on the North coast of Brittany, just to the East of Lannion which is its nearest major town.
It is primarily geared towards tourism and this is reflected on its seafront which is a fusion of beaches and harbour, with a healthy mixture of restaurants to choose from.
The main beach is made up of glorious white sand and is in the shape of a crescent. Clumps of giant rocks create enjoyment for children, and some small eateries on the immediate promenade offer cheap family sustenance in the form of delicious Crêpes and ice cream.
For more serious diners and those more content to observe the beach fun from afar, there are a few restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity.
To the West and East of this beach, there are less commercial beaches which only offer beverages during the peak season which is July August.
The French are very good at providing toilet facilities on their beaches and the Trébeurden main beach is no exception, with a ‘Portaloo’ style arrangement which encompasses sit down facilities and a Urinoir, where men can stand and wee, and be observed by passers by. Although this sounds strange in British terms, it is very French and seems to work. Both of the surrounding beaches also have toilet facilities.
About a Kilometre from the beach is the main town of Trébeurden which although small like many Breton towns, has everything anyone could need. There is a boulangerie (baker) hairdresser, more cafes, estate agents and even a large ‘Super U’ which is the equivalent of the British Tescos.
You could just show up and stay in the local area for the entire duration of your holiday, but for those with wanderlust, a car is essential, with some beautiful neighbouring beach resorts such as Trégastel and Ploumanac’h which are must-visit resorts, as well as the towns of Perros Guirec and Lannion.
